Republican Party of San Diego County Declares Victory For Californians with the Supreme Court Upholding Proposition 8 and Traditional Marriage

San Diego, CA - Appreciating the gravity of today's California Supreme Court decision to uphold citizens' right to amend their own constitution, Chairman Tony Krvaric today made the following statement:

"Today's decision is a victory for the people of California, who have twice spoken on the issue of marriage, and have now had that right and decision reaffirmed by the California Supreme Court."

"The Republican Party of San Diego County was the most aggressive county party in the state, helping to pass Proposition 8, and will do so again, unequivocally - if need be. Thanks to the hard work of many, Proposition 8 passed in our county by 53.7%, a nearly three percentage point greater margin than statewide."

"Contrary to some of the dishonest claims made by opponents of traditional marriage, all Californians will continue to enjoy the same equal protection rights - just as before the passage of Proposition 8. As the debate continues, we expect that any rallies and marches - by both sides - will be conducted in a peaceful, respectful manner."

"To that end, I will be joining a non-partisan, non-denominational rally in celebration of traditional marriage this coming Sunday, May 31st at 3 PM at the county administration building in downtown San Diego, and invite all supporters to come join me."

Republican Party of San Diego County Declares Victory for Taxpayers with Resounding Defeat of Fraudulent "Reform" Package

San Diego, CA - Recognizing the results of today's special election as a historic turning point in California history, Tony Krvaric, Chairman of the Republican Party of San Diego County praised preliminary election results which indicate that five of the six propositions will fail miserably.

"Voters spoke loud and clear, expressing their disgust with the Democrat-controlled legislature in Sacramento”, said Krvaric. “Voters are fed up with incompetent Democrat legislators in Sacramento, and their insatiable desire to plunder hardworking Californians to satisfy their labor union bosses. It's time to put taxpayers first by sending Republicans reinforcements to Sacramento", he added.

Preliminary results suggest that voters in San Diego county rejected the measures by an even greater margin, demanding continued strict fiscal discipline from their state legislators. Local legislators who broke their "no new taxes" pledge, such as newly minted Democrat Assemblyman Marty Block, will not be looked upon kindly come 2010.

"In addition to sending more Republican legislators to Sacramento, and making sure that we elect a Republican governor in 2010, the Republican Party of San Diego County is committed to electing more Republicans to hundreds of local offices, so that taxpayers have someone representing their interests", Krvaric concluded.
